Dear Yuletide Author;

Dear Yuletide Author,

Please excuse the mess while I'm writing this up! I've put down everything I think is important and my "optional details" list almost everything I can really think of for the requests.

First and foremost, I have to thank you for participating this year! This is my first Yuletide (this is a year of fandom-challenge firsts for me!) and I hope you're as excited as I am! I know I am very much looking forward to you work. And, if you've come to the these prompts, I think we might get along very well. As far as popularity goes, I think I'm in the mainstream shallow end of the requests pool, but I just couldn't help myself. I'm excited BECAUSE!:

The Last Unicorn is my favorite book, Utena is my favorite anime series, and Ladyhawke is my favorite 80s romantic drama with Rutger Hauer and a synthpop disaster soundtrack.

Dangan Ronpa is just new and I want to do everything I can to encourage the US fandom to flourish - plus, Aoi and Sakura are total cuties.

No matter which prompt sent you here, now that you are armed with that knowledge I can assure you that I WILL BE SO HAPPY TO SEE ANY OF THESE AS GIFTS. These are all stories so dear to my heart that your sheer interest in writing something about something that I love, for me, is really exciting. I could not be more pleased.

I have very few ABSOLUTE NOS in fic, and the only thing I would 100% like to ask to avoid here is noncon. I am also not particularly interested in dubcon. In explicit fic I don't like bathroom play or anything involving vomit, either. Though I like most genres, I'm not much for crack!fic and for these requests, at least, I think I'd like a bit more than PWP.

Stuff I like is a much larger and diverse category! I adore characters and all the meaty stuff that MAKES characters. History and introspection and dialogue and personality sketches from the ground up. I LOVE IT. I like fluff and angst (I'm a little ambivalent about character death in fic - I do love a good death scene but it definitely needs to make sense contextually and not just be needless killing) alike and will frequently go for a good stare-into-the-abyss sort of story. Joyce-ian nothingness building slowly to an epiphany? Yes please. Plotty stuff involving lots of story progression? Sign me up. I'm also perfectly pleased with holiday fic and the like,

3 out of my 4 requests somehow ended up involving two characters I ship. I have no idea how that happened, but suffice to say that, well, yes, I am interested in stories involving relationships and am fine with romance of all ratings you choose to include or exclude. I am totally okay with explicit fic minus the stuff up there in my nos.

Thank you again! Allow me to extend my hand for a virtual shake. It's very nice to meet you!

- shay (estuary @ ao3)

If I can think of things to add to my requests' "optional details," I will toss them up here as soon as I can!
